Welcome

Are you based in Houston and interested in becoming a librarian or information professional? The University of North Texas offers the Master of Science with majors in Library Science and Information Science degree program to students in the Houston area. Students have the option of completing courses that are offered in online format. Blended or in-person formats may be added in the future. This program is accredited by the American Library Association, with the most recent re-accreditation granted in June 2020.

As a Houston student, you will have access to the same program concentrations and coursework as the on-campus students in Denton. You will also have the added bonus of joining the Houston Program Hub, an online community to support and connect UNT students pursuing MS-LS or MS-IS degrees in the Houston area. The Hub is your place to go to find information on scholarships, job opportunities, get togethers, and local events as well as chat with classmates about particular classes, etc.

To apply to the program, follow the regular Admission Process for Library or Information Science Master’s Program.
