Assistant Professor of Information Science

The Department of Information Science at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Information Science with a focus on user interface and user experience (UI/UX) to begin in Spring or Fall 2026. We are seeking excellent candidates with research, teaching, and/or practice background in UI/UX design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), cognitive science, interactive information retrieval, information visualization, computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW), or a related field. The ideal candidate will push the boundaries of next-generation design and user experience, leveraging innovative approaches to enhance interaction, usability, and engagement. We especially welcome applicants whose work connects information with design to drive meaningful user experience advancements and incorporates principles of usability engineering and ethical considerations of emerging technologies into their teaching and research.

Assistant Professor of Library Science

The Department of Information Science at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Information Science with a focus on academic librarianship or public librarianship and library science to begin in Spring 2026. We are seeking excellent candidates with interests relating to our program specialization areas, such as:
• Library Administration: Including supervision of librarians and librarian professional development.
• Information Organization: Including library cataloging, classification, digital repository metadata, and information retrieval in library contexts.
• Specialized Library or Information Center Services: Including special collections/academic archives, music librarianship, art librarianship, and science librarianship.
• Information Behavior and Libraries: Including reference services and instructional librarianship.
• Archives, Museums, and Cultural Heritage Organizations: Including archival or museum outreach; appraisal, arrangement, description, and preservation of collections; and digital collection management.

Assistant/Associate Professor - Health Informatics (F1334P)

The Department of Information Science at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor positions in Health Informatics to begin in Spring 2024 and Fall 2024. We are seeking excellent candidates with a background in current or emerging areas of health informatics and/or health information systems. Some areas of interest are: clinical informatics, ontology development and management, bioinformatics, and imaging informatics. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate as well as graduate (master's and doctoral) courses, conduct collaborative, interdisciplinary research, and provide service in an academic position with emphasis in Health Informatics. The candidate must demonstrate a record of research accomplishments and have the ability to design and deliver courses in a variety of formats, including online and hybrid modalities. They are expected to work closely with doctoral students and to serve on dissertation committees.

Library and Information Science Adjunct Faculty (A805P)

The department offers programs at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. Our programs are nationally recognized and ranked. The Master of Science program with majors in Library Science and Information Science is accredited by the American Library Association. The School Library Media Certification is ranked tenth in the nation and the Health Informatics program is ranked seventh in the nation. We also offer the nation's largest interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Information Science. The Department of Information Science seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2023, Spring 2024 and Summer 2024 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs. Minimum requirements is a Ph.D. Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Computer Programming or comparable field with a minimum of 3-5 years of teaching and/or professional work experience in the Data Science or Data Analytics field.
