The Department of Information Science invites applications for three full-time, tenure-track
Assistant/Associate Professor faculty positions, to begin in Fall 2021. The available
faculty positions are in the areas of Data Science, Information Science and Library
Science.
The College of Information and Department of Information Science are committed to

Assistant/Associate Professor in Data Science
Candidates for this position will demonstrate evidence of effective teaching, research,
and scholarship with experience/expertise in the broad areas of Data Science and Information
Science. The minimum requirement is an earned doctorate in Data Science, Information
Science, Computer Science, or other related fields at the time of appointment. Preference
will be given to candidates who have been active in publication and have a demonstrated
record of funded scholarly research and publication.
The candidate will teach, conduct research, and provide service in an academic position
with emphasis on Data Science. Candidates must demonstrate a record of research accomplishments.

Assistant/Associate Professor in Library Science
Candidates for this position will demonstrate an interest in Library Science in areas
that include, but are not limited to, Law Librarianship, Academic Libraries, Special
Libraries and Library Management.
Candidates must have a master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program and an earned
doctorate in Library and Information Science or related field; and demonstrate evidence
of effective teaching, research, and scholarship with experience/expertise in broad
areas of Library and Information Science. Preference will be given to candidates with
a strong record of, or demonstrated potential for, success in obtaining extramurally
funded research; a demonstrated commitment to diversity as evidenced by their teaching,
research and service to the profession; and experience mentoring and advising graduate
students at the Ph.D. level.
The candidate is expected to coordinate students’ practicum experiences and develop
close relationships with practitioners and educators in Library & Information Studies.

Assistant/Associate Professor in Information Science
Candidates for this position will demonstrate an interest in Information Science in
areas that include, but are not limited to, Archival Studies and Management, Information
Architecture and User Experience, Knowledge Management, and Information Systems.
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Information Science or related fields;
and demonstrate evidence of effective teaching, research, and scholarship with experience/expertise
in broad areas of Library and Information Science. Candidates will be expected to
coordinate students’ practicum/internship experiences and develop close relationships
with practitioners and educators in Information Science areas.

Candidates for all positions will be expected to show evidence of or develop a record
of scholarly research necessary to earn tenure. Candidates must demonstrate ability
to design and deliver courses in a variety of formats, including online and hybrid
modalities, and are expected to teach courses at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral
levels. Candidates should also be willing to work closely with doctoral students and
serve on dissertation committees.
