Important Note: Two different applications are required to apply for the PhD in Information Science. Instructions for both applications are described below.
1. Apply to the University of North Texas Toulouse Graduate School
Apply by November 1, 2023 to allow for processing time.
A. Apply to the UNT Toulouse Graduate School
- Complete the Apply Texas application online and pay the $75 non-refundable application fee. Your completed application will be processed by the UNT Toulouse Graduate School and reviewed by your academic program.
- International students must also review the International Admissions page for additional required documents.
- You will need to meet the Graduate School minimum qualifications before you will be considered for admission to the Information Science PhD Program.
B. Submit official transcripts from all colleges attended to the Toulouse Graduate School.
C. If you are applying for admission into the Information Science PhD Program with
a concentration, please indicate this on your ApplyTexas Application. This will let

The Information Science PhD Program Application must be completed by the priority or regular deadline listed above. TGS/ApplyTexas Applications that remain incomplete or have not been reviewed by TGS on regular deadline will not be accepted or reviewed and instead will be considered for next admissions cycle. Both the Toulouse Graduate School (TGS)/ApplyTexas and Information Science applications must be completed and processed by the departmental deadline you are pursuing (priority or regular).
- You can apply for an assistantship on our Assistantship and Fellowships website.

The Department of Information Science will admit new doctoral students for fall semesters only.
