LIS Master's program coming to New Mexico Fall 2016

The Department of Library and Information Sciences, in collaboration with the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center, is offering its ALA-accredited Master's of Science in Library Science (LS) or Information Science (IS) program to a cohort of students in New Mexico. This new cohort will begin in Fall 2016, and will be directed by Drs. Michele A.L. Villagran and Ana D. Cleveland. The cohort approach combines intensive on-site instruction and social events with a highly interactive online experience to build and sustain a vibrant learning community.

Students in the cohort will take classes together at the Institutes held at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center, and online through their first year of study. On-site instruction will include 3 two-day institutes to be held September 2-5, 2016 and January 21-22, 2017 for the 3 core courses, which will be taught by UNT faculty. The remainder of the instruction will be delivered online. 

The LIS Department is currently recruiting for the cohort and will be hosting information sessions throughout the state of New Mexico, as well as virtual sessions.

Wednesday, April 27, 2016 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Santa Fe Public Library, Main Library Pick Room, 145 Washington Avenue, Santa Fe, NM 87501

Thursday, April 28, 2016 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.  ABC Libraries,  Main Library Conference Room 1, 501 Copper Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102

Virtual sessions hosted by Dr. Michele Villagran will also be held in May & June.

Applications for the cohort are now being accepted and will be accepted until the cohort is filled.
