IS alumni provide valuable insight during first Alumni Summit

April 4, 2018—The first Alumni Summit was hosted by Kinshuk, dean of the College of Information, and Yunfei Du, interim chair of the Department of Information Science at the UNT Dallas College of Law. For more than two hours Dr. Kinshuk led an open forum with a group of UNT Information Science alums and learned about their ideas for the master’s degree curriculum, UNT academic experience, work and professional careers, the future of the library and information profession, and master’s degree programs in libraries or information technology. It was an eye-opening experience for the administrators and faculty who were in attendance. The Alumni Summit provided a timely yet informal opportunity for UNT/IS alumni to voice their opinions and viewpoints.

This was the first summit of more that will be held in the future.  Additional sessions are being planned to get input and thoughts from our graduates in Houston, Austin, El Paso, Lubbock and our out-of-state cohort locations. The summit was conducted during the 2018 Texas Library Association Conference in Dallas.

Special thanks to the staff at the UNT Dallas Law School Library staff who provided the room and snacks for the event.
