New option for End of Program (EOP) requirement for Master's Program

Students in the Master's program who are planning to graduate in the Spring 2017 semester or later, will now have two options to complete the program:

1. The first option is the End of Program Examination.  The End of Program Examination is designed to give students the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to organize and synthesize knowledge as developed throughout their academic program, and to defend positions on current issues in library and information science, and the larger dynamic information environment (informationscience.unt.edu/eop-exam)

2. The second option is to take two advanced seminar courses (6 Credit hours). The two courses are designed to give students the opportunity to define and carry out a research project of personal interest. The advanced topic courses allow students to design, develop and complete a research project to culminate in a publishable quality work or comparable product. Students can enroll in INFO 5970 Advanced Topics Seminar I and INFO 5980 Advanced Topics Seminar II under the following conditions:

  • Students can enroll in INFO 5970 Advanced Topic Seminar I upon completing 18 hours of coursework.
  • INFO 5970 Advanced Topics Seminar in Information Science I should be completed successfully to enroll in INFO 5980 Advanced Topics Seminar in Information   Science II.
  • For graduation, students will need to complete both INFO 5970 and INFO 5980 (3 credit hours each), in addition to the 36 hours of graduate credit required for the degree, as well as the fulfillment of the practicum requirement.

STUDENTS GRADUATING IN SPRING 2017, PLEASE NOTE: If you prefer the second option, you MUST enroll in INFO 5970 for the Fall 2016 semester in addition to any other courses that are needed in order to meet all requirements for Spring 2017 graduation.
