Alumna Katy Manck elected as IASL President

Katy Massingill Manck (MLS, '79; SLMSC '05) was elected as President of the International Association of School Librarianship during its August 2016 conference in Tokyo. She is also a project coordinator with IASL's GiggleIT Project for global student writing through school libraries, past IASL Treasurer, former UNT LIS adjunct professor, and a "librarian-at-large" following her work in academic, corporate, public, and school libraries.

"All children deserve a great school library and a better school librarian," said Katy. "That's why I joined IASL as a school library student in 2005, and that's my focus now so we can work together on this vital mission, as teacher-librarians in schools and as school library researchers."

IASL is devoted to bringing qualified teacher-librarians, school libraries, literacy, and reading to the world's children through both academic research and continuing education for school librarians. Please visit www.iasl-online.org for more information about IASL and its worldwide endeavors.

The Association's 46th Annual International Conference and 19th International Forum on Research in School Librarianship, celebrating "Learning Without Borders" will be held 4-18 August 4 - 18, 2017, in Long Beach, California.
